About Us

A 21-strong European consortium has secured 6 Million Euros of EU funding to integrate engineering processing and materials technologies for the European automotive sector. The research is part funded by the European Commission under its Integrated Project for Small and Medium size enterprises (IPSME) scheme.
These companies and the EU will commit a total of 11 million Euros to the project. The partners include UK companies Smithers Rapra, Epistemics and SMMT Foresight Vehicle. Spanish companies Acteco and Aimplas are also involved, as is Polish company Osowaplast, Setemip from France, LMS from Belgium, Plasdan from Portugal, Schneider Form, QS-Grimm, Jacob and Daimler from Germany and Dutch companies Addcomp Holland, Bax and Bostik BV. Researchers from the Technical University of Delft and TNO in Holland, Fraunhofer in Germany and the University of Minho in Portugal will support these organisations. The results of the work will be communicated through SMMT Foresight Vehicle and the European Plastic Converters Association in Belgium.
The PEGASUS concept will improve hi-tech SMEs' competitiveness in the automotive industry due to the integration of knowledge in the new supply chain concept allowing SMEs to co-operate (they will integrate their know-how by sharing their expertise via the IDEE whilst at the same time retaining their specific know-how) and supply more hi-tech components to OEMs. The PEGASUS process will take advantage of multifunctional materials within flexible and automated production processes enabling individualisation as well as assuming responsibility to provide late configuration modules to OEMs.
The partnership comprises 10 hi-tech SMEs, 4 other SMEs, 1 OEM, 1 Large Enterprise, 2 RTOs, 2 Universities and 2 Industrial Associations from across 8 EU Member States (Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the UK). They cover the whole value chain, with the participation of industry and research in raw material manufacturers (Addcomp, Bax Spuiterij, Bostik), Machine manufacturer and automation (Plasdan), plastic converting and recycling (AIMPLAS, Acteco, Smithers Rapra, TNO, ICT, University of Minho, Jacob), mould maker (Osowaplast), Software Developers (Epistemics, Noesis), OEM (Daimler).
